Discovering Croatia’s Beautiful Town of Tribunj
A place filled with narrow streets, densely built houses and the cleanest sea in the Adriatic, the Dalmatian town of Tribunj exudes a unique and beautiful part of the archipelago it is found on. For those hoping to spend some time in this part of Croatia, they will be pleasantly surprised to find that there is plenty of activities to partake in, sites to explore and little treasures to be discovered throughout.
Tribunj was founded by refugees many, many years ago from neighboring villages, which you can learn about through a visit to the many monuments scattered throughout the town. Head to the Church of St. Nicholas, the remains of the Church of the Virgin Mary or the Turkish for Jurjevgrad to gain a glimpse back into the past of Tribunj.
As mentioned before, Tribunj is lined with beautiful shores of some of the cleanest waters of the Adriatic Sea. If you are looking to soak up the sun or enjoy some water activities, head to the many pristine beaches within close reach. The most popular beach is Sovlja Beach, where you can breathe in the fresh salty breeze, explore the crystal clear waters or simply dig your feet into the warm sand for the day.
If you want to do more than just swim in that refreshing water off the Tribunj shores, consider taking a scuba diving class or putting on some snorkeling gear to get an up close look at the beautiful sea life just below the surface. For those hoping to stay on land, enjoy some tennis, indoor soccer or even bowling!
The town is also home to some incredible restaurants and because many of the locals are fisherman, they are able to bring in fresh seafood every single day for the guests to enjoy and indulge in. Visit the many taverns including Bepo, Roko and Simon or the restaurants Lanterna and Tople to have a meal your taste buds are guaranteed to love.
If you are planning a trip to Tribunj during the summer months, then you are in for a real treat! Each summer, the town organizes traditional feasts including Tribunj Night, Fisherman’s Night, The Feast of the Assumption and The Feast of St. Nicholas where you can enjoy fun until the early hours of the morning full of dancing, great company and of course delicious food.
